PnP have successfully implemented a telematics system for a leading off highway vehicle manufacturer.
The project brief was to:
- Provide an easy to install system
- Obtain key machine operating parameters
- Show how long certain activities had been undertaken for
- Show where the machine is
The Galileosky 7x LTE was chosen mainly as a result of its flexible CANbus reading.
This enabled PnP to obtain all of the required machine information over CAN.
This meant that the OEM only had to plug in power and CAN wires to enable them to see all of the information that they wanted to remotely.
Additionally, a remote system was set up to show key system events alongside Google Maps so that users could see exactly where events had happened. For example when the machine first went in to a certain mode of operation, a pinpoint would be displayed on the map and then when the machine had come out of that mode. This meant that the users could see exactly what had occurred, where and how long for.
User roles and sub users were set up so that the OEM could allocate machines to their clients.
Geofences were set up for users so they could also see when a machine had left the depot, how long it had stopped for and how long it had actually been operated on site for. This enabled them to assess how long operators were actually on a job for v how long they were out of the depot.
This project has been deemed a success and the OEM will continue to implement this system throughout production.
